Goodnight and Goodbye

At first, these blogs were a way to get a grade. But as I kept writing them every weekend it was a way for me to rant and to better myself as a writer. Becoming aware of my social media consumption changes my interactions with media by limiting myself and trying to not let it waste my time. And the whole media project has helped me to see what companies really mean in all their advertising because they could say they are giving you something when really it could just be the opposite. All advertisers want to sell you something and they'll do anything to get you to buy their product so they have to appeal to do what you want. And a lot of times companies promise something that doesn't exist or oversells you on products that you don't even need. I think media literacy is one of the most important tools you can have. This will allow you to understand the real definition of media, and you can fight back against the millions who want your attention. A better understanding of what you are constantly using will help your critical thinking skills. Another thing to be aware of is being an educated consumer, this means you know what you're buying, you know what is in the product, you know what this product can offer for you, and you know a scam when you see it. being more educated and media, consumerism, and the world of technology helped me to see past certain “fake news” that was affecting my perception of the social world. Overall doing the media blogs really made me learn a lot, and I really liked writing about the current social news that was happening around the world.

Gender War

This is a problem that has gone throughout history and has tried to heal itself but can never succeed. This is the problem of equal rights for both men and women. Many people say that there has been changed throughout history that has got us to today, but what is today and how is it any better from yesterday.  To this day we have not had one female president out of 44 presidents in the United States. To this day other third world, nations are struggling with the highest rates of sexual abuse against women. To this day we still struggle to hear women's voices on important Decisions. To this day, little girls are still growing up thinking it's okay to judge other women on social media. To this day men are still making decisions for women that have nothing to do with them. To this day the LGBTQ Community still gets backlash for them trying to be themselves. To this day men are judged to be weak or compared to women. To this day men are judged by their masculinity and their ability to lack emotion. To this day men and women are not equal. So I think that we should work to treat men and women equally instead of saying that we are equal.

And that's ok.

But we can be treated equally. So I think that we should work to treat men and women equally instead of saying that we are equal.

The Earth burning

        As a lot of you know, there is one of the largest fires burning in Australia as we speak.


When the fires first began more than 800 million animals died in the first few months, Now that number rose to 1 billion animals now dead because of these bushfires. 26 people have been killed due to severe burns and unhealthy air quality. The fire also destroyed about 2,000 homes and still counting. At least  140 fires are still burning in New South Wales alone. 17 million acres of land in Australia is burned and left in Ruins. Firefighters from all over the world are flying over to Australia to help contain the fire and to give more help to the community. At least 150 firefighters from the United States have assisted authorities in Australia with fighting back to these horrible conditions. According to Australia's Bureau of meteorology, the fires have been filled by prolonged droughts, with December making the driest month on record. Record-breaking fundraisers for these bushfires have Rose 23 million dollars, and many people have not been shy when it comes to donating to this cause.

After all of these disasters and many more before this one in Australia, many people including the United States president doesn't firmly agree that global warming and climate change is one of the biggest crisis's people all over the world have to face. People have lost their homes, their friends and family, And even their own life all due to the fact that this could have been prevented if only people took a stance and realized what was right in front of them, and came up with a solution on how to solve it. 
 

The Golden Globes 2020

        I myself am actually watching the Golden Globes right now, and I watch it every year with my family because we enjoy watching the fashion on the red carpet, a recap of movies over the entire year, and my favorite part of the speeches. I love to hear all the speeches that address the people that helped them, their emotions, the words of wisdom, and the real-life events they take into consideration and their opinion on it. This year I have seen many great speeches and all of them have been able to address their own opinion and their stance on the problems in the world, Australia's fire, the reason to worry from Isis, the MeToo movement, the importance of voting and global warming. 

These actors and actresses take the time to make mention these important moments in history to not only ask the audience but for us at home to take a stance and raise a voice what is right. Hearing these famous people thank their parents and telling us how they got to this moment makes me and others think that they were people like us who worked harder than others to achieve more than lots. Being able to see people who deserve recognition for there hard work. Oh, also the comedy is pretty good.

Midriffs and Mooks of the 2019

Let's think about this for a second. How many different types of teenagers do you know and what makes them different or categorize to a certain social group. It can start with their personalties or it could be the way the address themself by appearance or even who they hang out with. Frontline states some of these people as Mooks and Midriffs. These are specifically stated to be younger people that the market of COOL decide to go after in their advertising and most of the time they attract them with the newest trends. Mooks are described as a stupid or incompetent person and Midfriffs are described as specifically girls who want to flaunt the body as their best asset, best represented by Britney Spears. Both of these types of teens have evolved over time to become whatever the trends want to be and now nearing to the end of the decade these so-called Mooks and Midriffs aren't what they use to be. Now they are people targeted in the media and are either looked up to or pitied for being shallow, self-absorbed characters inordinately focused on physical appearance and personal satisfaction. But these people are still the main targets for COOL and used to target other teenagers. Overall these people have no real positive effect on society and are just hear as the wrong definition of cool.
